Misconduct Hearing For Police Officer Who Allegedly Had Intimate Relationship With Vulnerable Man

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary hearing has been scheduled next week for a police officer alleged to have had an intimate relationship with a vulnerable man.

PC Louise Howard's case will be heard from 18 to 21 March at the Holiday Inn, Eastleigh.

In June 2022 during the course of her duties, PC Howard met a person who she had previously known, but on this occasion was presenting as vulnerable.

Subsequent to this she then entered into an intimate relationship with him and failed to properly declare the relationship.

It is alleged that by developing an intimate relationship with a man who it was known, or ought to have been known, was vulnerable fell below the standards expected of Police officers and such conduct amounts to the breach of Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of ‘Discreditable Conduct'.

It is assessed that these matters individually and collectively amount to gross misconduct, and that if proved, is so serious that this officer’s dismissal could be justified.
