Police were called to Carisbrooke this morning (Tuesday) after a traffic warden was attacked by a member of the public.
The incident took place on Wellington Road shortly after 9am, with a 29 year-old man subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody this afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:
"We were called at 9.02am this morning (28 March) with reports of an assault on a parking enforcement officer in Wellington Road, Carisbrooke.
"A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody at this time.
"Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
"We ask people not to speculate and instead report any information you have to police on 101, quoting 44230122556."
