Isle Of Wight's Floating Bridge: Another Grounding Planned

Just hours after the floating bridge resumed service, the Isle of Wight Council has announced another planned grounding.

The Cowes to East Cowes vessel is expected to be out of action in the evening of Monday (28) and Tuesday (29).

Works to replace prow cables on the troubled vessel are set to be carried out.

The Isle of Wight Council says the chain ferry will remain in operation during the day, however.

A spokesperson said:

"The work will happen from 6pm to 11pm on both the Monday and Tuesday, and the replacement foot passenger launch will be in operation during these times."

The vessel was pulled from service earlier today following a problem with the hydraulics system.

It has since resumed service.
