Southern Vectis Colleague Feedback Leads To Additional Mountbatten Isle Of Wight Donation

Mountbatten Isle of Wight received a surprise donation this week - thanks to an additional gift from Southern Vectis.

Last year, the local bus operator named Mountbatten as its official good cause for 2024 and 2025, and is spending two years raising funds and awareness to help the charity provide 24/7 care and support for thousands of local people across the Island in their homes, the hospice building in Newport, and St Mary’s Hospital.

After a recent donation of £23,000, Southern Vectis has followed up with an additional £2,270 top up.

“Our team members are behind this latest donation,” said Southern Vectis general manager, Richard Tyldsley.

“As a responsible local employer, we conduct an annual survey to receive feedback from our colleagues to gauge how they feel about working with us.

“Many don’t necessarily like face-to-face meetings, so we carry it out anonymously online. As an added incentive, we pledge to make a donation to our charitable cause for every team member who takes part.

“Mountbatten is a crucial local resource, supporting people with death and dying, and also offering relatives and friends free bereavement support.

“My colleagues have voted for Mountbatten Isle of Wight to be our official good cause, and I’m delighted to be boosting our support with this lump sum - which is in addition to our fundraising efforts this year.”
