Residents at Hartford Care’s Inver House care home in Bembridge have gone the extra mile this Christmas and have chosen to donate gifts to the Isle of Wight Radio toy appeal, instead of receiving a present themselves.
The collection of gifts donated include art sets, footballs, a toy pushchair, board games and a science kit and were delivered to the toy appeal by Inver House Home Manager Agnes Field and Activities Coordinator Karen Wheeler.
Agnes says:
“Every year we put aside a small amount of money to purchase Christmas presents for our residents.
"This year, many of our wonderful residents decided to use this to contribute to the Isle of Wight Radio toy appeal, benefitting young carers, children in hospital, sick youngsters, bereaved children and those challenged by poverty and housing problems.
"We are incredibly proud of our generous residents.”
Inver’s 50-bedroom home has benefitted from significant investment over the last few years and offers residential care, end of life care, respite care and day care, along with dementia care in a dedicated 32-bedroom suite, Treetops, within the sympathetically converted Edwardian building.
Along with supporting the radio appeal, Hartford Care is inviting the local community to join its Christmas Trail on the Isle of Wight. Residents and staff have been busy decorating wooden Christmas decorations which will be hidden nearby to its homes from Thursday 12th December.
For those lucky enough to spot a hidden Christmas decoration, please take the attached winners tag to your nearest Hartford Care home (listed below) to collect a prize by Tuesday December 24.
In addition to the prize of a box of chocolates or selection box, for each token returned to the home, Hartford Care will donate £5 to its chosen charity, Shelter.
