On the first day of Cowes Week (Saturday), things took a turn for the worse for three crew onboard a yacht, following an at-sea collision.
Although Cowes RNLI lifeboat was launched it was a Cowes Harbour launch that was first on the scene to provide initial assistance. The boat and crew were safely brought ashore. The lifeboat had launched at 5.20 pm for the call-out.
Later the lifeboat station provided a welcome cup of tea to a 67 year old crew member of an X One Design who was suffering from the cold. His craft had been towed into Cowes Harbour by another lifeboat.
