Woman Thanks Emergency Services After Car Flips In Freshwater

A woman has paid tribute to the emergency services on the Isle of Wight after she was involved in a serious crash in Freshwater.

As previously reported, firefighters, ambulance teams and police were called to Afton Road last Thursday night (13), after a silver Toyota Celica left the road and crashed into trees.

One person was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters.

Friends of Freshwater Fire Station have revealed that the passenger, who was cut free and released from the car, has contacted them to say thank you.

Wishing to remain anonymous, she said:

“I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the whole team that helped cut me out of the car. The driver tried to apply the brake, but the back of the car slipped, and the car flipped once, but thankfully landed right side up.

"I have a few cuts and bruises on my face and 12 stitches on the top of my head, which I guess is from the impact. My upper back, shoulders and neck are also in pain, but according to the doctor it's just muscular from the impact. No fractures thankfully.

"It was a very scary situation and my anxiety level was very high. It must have been a very stressful situation for you too, none of you showed it and just showed kindness and calmness towards me, as did the ambulance staff and police.

"You are all absolutely incredible. I fortunately got out of the hospital yesterday morning with all the wounds being superficial, so the recovery should only take a couple of weeks max. Thank you again for being amazing heroes!"
