Ventnor Restaurant Shortlisted For Menu Of The Year Award

The Head Chef of Ventnor's Hambrough restaurant has been shortlisted for the prestigious Menu of the Year Award at a national hospitality awards ceremony.

Matthew Tomkinson is hoping to secure the silverware at The Cateys in July — widely considered the UK hospitality sector's most coveted awards.

Bursting with pride, Matthew said:

“It is an absolute honour to have been nominated and I am astounded to have been shortlisted for the Menu of the Year 2023 award in competition with so many exciting restaurants throughout the country.

"I am unbelievably proud to bring recognition to our restaurant, where we constantly aim for the highest quality food using our fabulous local produce wherever we can.

"Having previously won a Cateys award for Hotel Chef of the Year in 2015, it is truly humbling to be recognised once again by such a prestigious body."

The winners of the awards, recognising the strongest performers and highest flyers in each sector, as determined by the industry itself, will be revealed at a glittering event on July 4 at JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London.

Matthew has enjoyed a glittering career in the kitchen so far, with highlights including the Roux Scholarship and being a two-time Michelin star achiever.
