Vehicle Hits Railway Bridge In Sandown Cancelling ALL Island Line Services

A lorry has hit a railway bridge in Sandown.

It's understood the vehicle has struck the iron bridge at Morton Common, Sandown.

Island Line services have been suspended while engineers inspect the damage.

Train services running to and from these Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin are cancelled, with disruption expected until at least 5pm.

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said:

"We have been informed that a road vehicle has struck a bridge between Ryde and Shanklin. This means that the Island Line is currently closed, train are not able to run. Staff are en-route to examine the bridge.

"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point. 

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."

There are delays in the area.
