Vandals Cause Damage At Shanklin Football Club

Vandals have caused damage at Shanklin Football Club.

A number of youths were spotted smashing signs in the dug outs last night (Sunday).

The incident has been reported to the police.

It's the second time in recent weeks that the club has been targeted.

A Shanklin FC spokesperson said:

"In recent months, the football club has been the target of criminal damage from local teenagers.

"Last month our storage container was broken into, kids have climbed onto the roof of the clubhouse causing damage to the roof and this evening in broad daylight a group of 14-16 year olds decided to smash up the dug outs.

"Tonight's (Sunday) incident has been reported to the police, along with photos, and we have the names of two of the lads.

"Everybody at the football club is a volunteer, giving up their time to try to create a safe environment for the local community to play and watch football. It's a real shame that the actions of a small number of individuals try to ruin this."

Anyone driving past or walking near the County Ground who sees people causing damage is asked to message the Shanklin FC Facebook page.
