
Two men have been arrested after a public order incident in Newport, where a police officer was assaulted.
Officers were called at 12.21am this morning (Tuesday) with reports of a public order incident, where a group of people were reported to be fighting in the street in Trafalgar Road - and a vehicle had been damaged.
Police attended and an officer was assaulted.
A 28-year-old man from Newport, has arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place, while a 26-year-old man from Newport, has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, criminal damage, and using threatening/abusive words with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence.
Both men remain in custody at this time.
