Tractor Cheque Presented To The Friends Of St Mary’s Hospital

A cheque for hundreds of pounds has been handed over to the Friends of St Mary's shop, based at the hospital.

The charity was joint beneficiaries with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, to receive the proceeds of the Annual Charity Tractor Road Run, which took place in December.

David Lemonius and Denis Pocock, from the Isle of Wight Classic Tractors, visited the Friends of St Mary’s Shop to present the team with a £850 cheque.

The 24-mile charity road run saw 75 tractors set off from Hale Manor, near Arreton, to make their way across West Wight to Compton Farm.

Crowds turned out to cheer the procession on and raise money for the chosen charities.

A spokesperson for the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital, said:

“Thank you to everyone who took part and to everyone for their support - it sounds like it was a great success.

“Having support from charity events like this means a lot as we are able to continue to support the services offered by the Island's NHS”.
