Teenager Sentenced In Connection With Ryde Business Crime Investigation

A teenager has been sentenced for a series of shoplifting incidents in Ryde.

The 14-year-old from Sandown, who can’t be named for legal reasons, was charged on November 13 with six counts of theft from a shop.

These relate to £303.50 worth of alcohol and a hotdog stolen between October 31 and November 10 from Co-op on Anglesea Street.

This follows an investigation conducted by Ryde NPT.

Appearing at the Isle of Wight Youth Court on Wednesday (December 21), the boy admitted all of the offences, and was handed a six-month Youth Referral Order.

This will require him to attend regular meetings with a Youth Offender Panel, and his parent/guardian must attend with him.

Compensation of £152.25p was also awarded to the shop, which will be paid by the boy’s parent or guardian.
