Storm Ciaran: What Can We Expect As Weather Warnings Issued?

Amber and yellow weather warnings are in place for the Isle of Wight over the next two days.

Storm Ciaran is expected to bring torrential rain and howling gales from this afternoon onwards.

Yellow warnings for wind and rain are in place today (Wednesday), with the rain warning in place between 6pm and 11.59pm.

The yellow warning for wind will subsequently be in place between 9pm and midnight.

 

An amber warning for high winds will be in place from 6am until 5pm on Thursday.

The Met Office says:

"Very strong winds associated with Storm Ciarán may disrupt travel, utilities, and cause some structural damage."

Winds are expected to reach up to 90mph on the Isle of Wight.
