There is still time to apply for grant support from Island Roads’ Isle of Wight Foundation.
And to encourage local charities and not-for-profit organisations to apply for funding, Island Roads has produced a short film featuring two previous recipients of funding.
In the film The Alzheimer’s Café in Cowes and Vectis Radio’s 4Ps programme tell how foundation funding is making a real positive impact to life on the Island.
Now in its 11th year, the foundation – comprising the companies behind Island Roads – has awarded grants of between £3,000 and £16,000 for projects involved in helping build better communities or supporting people to access employment or housing.
To date, it has awarded grants worth more than £900,000 for such projects.
In December it announced 2024 grant awards to local groups including Alzheimer’s Café IW, Care In the Garden (CITG), People Matter IW, St Catherine’s School, YES Creative Beats, Community Action, The Vectis Radio 4Ps and Aspire Community.
Any applications that meet the foundations criteria are encouraged whether from a group applying for the first time or having previously applied.
The companies making up the foundation are Ringway Island Roads, Island Roads Services, Vinci Concessions and Meridiam.
Chairman Rob Gillespie said:
“Since 2014 it has been a real pleasure not just to support the work of so many good causes but also to establish really strong links
with the groups we have helped.
“Once again, we would like to encourage community interest companies and not-for-profit organisations involved in bringing communities together or supporting people with training, to apply for the next round of funding from our foundation.”
Maggie Bennett, Alzheimer’s Café CEO, said:
“Island Roads and its Foundation have become a really valued supporter of the café.
"The latest grant for the our new arts studio was really good news for us and will allow us to develop services for those affected by dementia.
“I would urge any local group working to improve lives on the Island to see if they can qualify for an Island Roads grant. It is an easy process that can really make a big difference.”
Funding applications can be made until midday on Friday, May 9.
