South Island Sevens Set To Bring Host Of High-Octane Action To Ryde

A sporting event will take on sand, sea and... paddle boards on the Isle of Wight next month.

The South Island Sevens, presented by Snows BMW, will feature nine entirely different events to create a sports festival unlike any other.

The event will feature rugby, a NUKU Fitness Challenge, paddle boarding, netball, kite sports, mountain biking, skateboarding, a beach run and sailing.

Camping is available and is located a six-minute walk from the beach venue. Classic Buses will be on hand throughout the weekend to take people around the town.

Saturday night will see athletes gather together for a sundowner on the beach, Our Girl G back in residence, before heading to “The Balcony” for a private party.

Public transport will run until 3am.

The event takes place over the weekend of July 22 and 23, with further information available online.

A spokesperson for the event said:

"Sevens is a growing festival genre, the Bournemouth event for example attracts 30,000 people every year.

"The Isle of Wight version is unique, we have multiple sites, an athlete village on the beach and an unparalleled range of sports in which to participate in.

"We have 2,000 athletes visiting the Island and welcome IOW residents in all sports".
