Man Found Safe And Well After Missing Person Search In Freshwater

Police and search and rescue teams are looking for a man who has gone missing in Freshwater this evening (Tuesday).

79-year-old Dennis Steel was last seen in the Brambles Chine area at around 6pm.

Posting on Facebook, his son said he has advanced vascular dementia and diabetes and he has not taken his medication. Police say he may appear confused.

His family are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

Dennis’ son said he was last seen wearing a pink polo shit and flip flops. He is described as being white, 5ft 10ins tall with a skinny build, and he is bald with grey hair on the sides.

WightSAR are said to be searching Freshwater, alongside police officers.

UPDATED: Hampshire Police have confirmed that missing man, Dennis Steel, has been found safe and well this evening (Tuesday).

Search teams have now been stood down.
