Ryde Beach Lifeguards have welcomed more Beach Safety volunteers to assist them in Ryde and Sandown during the summer holidays.

The Beach Safety are volunteers from RBLG’s beach rookie lifeguard program they run in the summer months, meaning they have completed various Royal Life Saving Society Rookie Lifeguard awards in lifesaving, first aid and rescue board skills.

This has given them the ability to confidently assist the Beach Lifeguards with basic first aids, patrols and lookout duties.

They are all receiving additional training, to bring their skills and knowledge up to standard before the summer.

Todd Miller, Beach Manager, said:

“We are really excited to welcome more Beach Safety joining the team this year. It really benefits our team.

"This means that when they turn 16 and complete their National Vocational Beach Lifeguard course, they will be a really high standard of Beach Lifeguard with all their previous knowledge and experience from rookies and beach safety.”
