Reading And Leeds Festivals Given Go Ahead - Will Isle Of Wight Festival Follow?

The Reading and Leeds music festivals will go ahead this year, bringing hope for the Isle of Wight Festival.

Line-ups for the twin events, which will take place in late August, have been confirmed.

It follows the publication of England's roadmap out of lockdown, which says the government plans to remove all legal limits on social contact by June 21.

Yesterday (Tuesday), Isle of Wight Radio revealed how organisers of the Isle of Wight Festival are 'exploring options'.

This year's event is due to finish on June 20 - a day before the key roadmap date. It has led to calls to push the festival back to enable it to still go ahead.

Confirming the Reading and Leeds festivals will continue, organisers posted on Twitter:

"Following the government's recent announcement, we can't wait to get back to the fields this summer. LET'S GO."

Reading and Leeds will run from 27-29 August.
