Puckpool Cafe Seeking Extension To Brave Winter Weather

An Isle of Wight seaside cafe is looking to extend its building so more customers can sit indoors whatever the weather.

Plans have been lodged by the Dell Cafe at Puckpool to add more space for indoor tables, allowing for more covered seating when the weather is not so good.

It is proposed the current front aspect would be moved to create more space, encompassing some of the current paved area.

Sliding glass doors would be installed along the front of the cafe — similar to the current windows of the eatery.

The doors could then be opened if the weather permitted at any time of year.

The internal floor space could increase by more than 20m² but not go past the existing cantilevered roof of the building, which overlooks the Solent.

As part of the plans, some walls and internal partitions could be removed.

It is suggested there could be an increase in staffing — as the plans would allow the cafe to operate longer.

You can view the plans, 23/00326/FUL, on the council’s planning register.

Comments can be submitted until August 4.
