Plans In Place For Residential Development On Isle Of Wight Greenfield Site

A greenfield site on the Isle of Wight could be developed under new plans submitted by mainland developers.

Hertfordshire-based Redmer Developments has submitted plans which could see around 16 homes built off the Main Road, next to Wellow Fields.

The developers are seeking outline consent for access from the Main Road and the principle of developing the site.

As part of the planning documents, an idea of the site’s layout and the number of properties, in a range of house types and tenures, have been put forward but is not final.

Planning agents, BCM, on behalf of Redmer Developments, said of the potential 16 properties, eight would be deemed as ‘affordable’, with discounted prices.

It is proposed more than one hectare would be developed, leaving the remaining land as an open space and wilderness area.

The site would be next to the Millennium Fields and near the West Wight Alpacas and Llamas farm.

The site had been identified in 2018 by the Isle of Wight Council as being suitable for housing, with the potential for 15 houses.

You can view the plans, 23/01955/OUT, on the Isle of Wight Council’s planning register. Comments can be submitted until December 22.

A further application to determine the appearance, landscape, layout and scale of the site would need to be made if the outline consent is granted.
