Police have confirmed that a 73 year old man has been arrested following a serious collision in Sandown that left a pedestrian badly hurt.
Emergency crews responded to Avenue Road yesterday evening following reports of a man being hit by a car.
The casualty in his 40s suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Southampton Major Trauma Centre by Air Ambulance. He remains in a serious condition.
