Over 200 Tonnes Of Salt Used As Gritters Deployed On Island's Roads

More than 200 tonnes of salt has been used on roads across the Isle of Wight since the beginning of the month (December).

Island Roads has said it is the longest gritting run it can remember.

Between now and Sunday (18), it's predicted a further 105 tonnes of salt will be spread across the Island's road networks.

There will be another seven runs during that period, the firm has said.

Gritters have continued to be deployed as temperatures on the Island plummet, leading to icy conditions.

Island Roads is urging drivers to take care on the roads.
