Man Says Thanks To People Who Helped Him After Collision In Newport

A man who collided with a car in Newport has thanked those people who came to his aid.

Ash Brewer ended up on the floor on Tuesday (14), at the junction of Town Lane and Pyle Street, just after midday.

He said he suffered minor injuries, but has been left shaken by the incident - and wants to thank those who came to his aid.

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, Ash, said:

"I was crossing by Wyld and the furniture shop with my walking stick. I was halfway across the road, when a car came around the corner and didn't stop. I put my hand on his bonnet and ended up on the floor of the road.

"A lot of people helped me and I would like to thank those helped me on that day."

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:

"We were called at 12.28pm on February 14, with reports of a collision on Town Lane involving a Volkswagen Tiguan and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a man aged in his 50s, sustained minor injuries."
