One of the Isle of Wight's most exciting young musicians has released her latest song today (Saturday).
Beth Brookfield's new single “On the Way to Paris” sonically captures the romanticism of the French capital, with the singer's customary serene vocals and reimagination of Billie Jean-alike guitar riff combining for another uplifting release.
Beth told Isle of Wight Radio:
"For a long time I have been obsessed with Paris, I love everything about it but had never been.
"Earlier this year I was planning to do a solo trip there, however the plans didn't work due to Covid restrictions.
"I started thinking about how I really wouldn't want to go to Paris on my own and started to fantasise about going with someone I love.
"The song (delves into) that dream and all the amazing things you could do and places you could see together."
The new single was recorded at Newport's Empire Sounds Studio, where artists such as Wet Leg and Lauran Hibberd have recorded previously.
In March 2022 Beth performed at a TEDx talk, where she wrote an original song specifically for the event.
The 19-year-old, who made her Main Stage debut at this year's Isle of Wight Festival, is widely regarded as the next prospective breakout star from these shores.
Earlier this year Beth supported James Walsh, frontman of English post-Britpop band Starsailor.
Beth counts legendary musicians George Harrison and Fleetwood Mac as well as modern artists Taylor Swift and Sigrid among her inspirations.
