Isle Of Wight Cricketers Hoping For More Vitality Blast Success

Isle of Wight cricketers, Adam Hose and Danny Briggs, are hoping to score more success for Birmingham Bears in the Vitality Blast tonight (Friday).

The pair were instrumental in the Bears' win against Worcestershire Rapids at Edgbaston last week, when the home side claimed a 144-run victory.

Hose, 29, scored 110 (not out) off just 53 balls - smacking four 6s and thirteen 4s.

31-year-old spin-bowler, Briggs, then took four for 25 as Worcestershire were bowled out for 84.

Hose, who played youth cricket for Ventnor, said after the match:

"It was a special night. Those are the nights you dream of - on TV - in front of a packed Edgbaston, which was bouncing.

"We knew it was a good pitch and knew if we got a good score on the board, we would stand a real good chance.

"I think we can do well in this competition, but we must focus on the next game as it comes, and see where it takes us."

Adding to the delight, Hose's knock of 110 was the biggest ever individual score in the Blast, with Birmingham's 228 runs the highest ever innings.

Tonight, the duo - who were both born on the Island - are hoping to seal another memorable win when they travel north to face Yorkshire Vikings in the 20-over tournament.
