Isle Of Wight Businesses Warned After 'Oil Thieves' Chased Off

Isle of Wight businesses are being warned after two 'oil thieves' were chased from a pub.

The Chequers Inn, Rookley, said two males were caught on the premises today (Friday), before escaping empty-handed.

It's thought the two men are travelling on the Island in a white VW van.

The Sun Inn, Calbourne has also reported the same men, allegedly trying to steal oil, today.

One man is believed to be in a high-vis top, with the words 'Oil Collection' written on the back.

Posting on Facebook, The Chequers Inn, said:

"Our chef has just had to chase off two oil thieves.

"Luckily this time we caught them before they could take anything, but they’ve stolen from us multiple times before. Keep your eyes out they seem to be aware of delivery days!

"We didn’t manage to get a picture or catch them on CCTV but we did get their reg.

"Please share to make local business owners aware."

Anyone who sees the men are advised to call police.
