Hourly Service On Island Line As Industrial Action Continues

Passengers on Island Line are warned of disruption to their journeys as industrial action continues this week.

Railway personnel - ranging from train drivers to station staff - across the country have been taking part in strikes for many months in an ongoing row over pay and working conditions.

This week, members of the ASLEF Union are taking further action though they have stopped short of a full strike.

Members are refusing to work any overtime something they say operators rely on to keep a regular and reliable service running.

As a result, South Western Railway says an hourly service will be running on Island Line between Shanklin and Ryde until Friday (11th) - with the potential for a further reduced timetable on Saturday should more action be announced.
