St Mary's Hospital workers have paid homage to the Ventnor Lions Club charity after a fundraising effort allowed them to install an invaluable new piece of equipment.
The charity generously donated a new bladder scanner to Luccombe Ward, St Mary’s Hospital.
The scanner, worth approximately £7,000, was kindly presented to the ward by the Ventnor Lions president Phil Holland, and Dick Walters — a member of Ventnor Lions Club for over 40 years.
Luccombe Ward Sister, Heidi Meekings, said:
“We are incredibly grateful, this new equipment will make such a difference to patients and staff on the ward.
“Having this scanner will mean we can quickly check to see if a patient might be unable to empty their bladder.
"It will help to avoid unnecessary catheterisations as well as preventing patients suffering from further complications as a result.”
Phil Holland added:
“We are delighted to be able to support the island’s NHS through these donations and knowing the difference it will make to patients.”
