Flood Warning Issued For Eastern Yar

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the Eastern Yar this afternoon (Wednesday).

It comes as water levels in the Eastern Yar remain high.

In the past 24 hours a further 15mm of rain has been recorded at Wroxall.

At Alverstone and Sandown, the river level is stabilising and will begin to fall in response to the rain recorded overnight.

Some minor impact flooding of roads — including Golf Links and Moreton Common Road — and land is expected to continue.

Isolated showers are forecast to continue into the evening.

While these showers may cause an increase in water level, property flooding is not expected.

Additional rainfall may increase flood impacts on land, roads and possibly gardens.

From tomorrow, the weather remains dry and the situation will improve.

An Environment Agency warning said:

"We have been operating Bembridge sluice to help manage water levels at Brading Marshes.

"Please avoid walking, driving or cycling through ponded water. This Flood Alert will be updated or removed by 4pm tomorrow."
