Energy Minister Jacob Rees-Mogg MP In Isle Of Wight Visit

Minister for energy Jacob Rees-Mogg MP is on the Isle of Wight today (Thursday).

The Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is paying a trip to Vestas.

It's not known what exactly will be discussed but his visit follows news that the firm's Island base is to build a raft of new wind turbines, as revealed earlier this year.

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, Vestas has been talking to Government about building a new generation of larger, 85-metre blades.

At the time Island MP Bob Seely said "it’s important for Britain" as it will help increase the supply of renewable energy.

Mr Rees-Mogg's trip comes in the midst of the UK's energy crisis.

Yesterday (Wednesday) it was revealed revenues could be capped to ensure electricity generators don't benefit from record energy prices.

The Government said it wants to break the link between high gas costs and the amount made by wind, solar and nuclear power firms.

The Energy Prices Bill also includes legislation which caps household and business fuel costs over winter.
