Emergency Services Called To Wootton As Ambulance, Car And Pedestrian Involved In Crash

Emergency services have been called to a crash in Wootton which left a pedestrian injured this afternoon (Tuesday).

Thankfully, the injuries, which occurred adjacent to Tesco Express on the High Street, are not reported to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed:

"We were called at 1.42pm to a collision on High Street in Wootton.

"This involved an ambulance, a car and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian suffered a serious but not life-threatening or life-changing injury."

Ryde firefighters were called to the two-vehicle RTC on the high street in Wootton shortly before 2pm.

A spokesperson for the fire service said:

"Two casualties with minor injuries were assessed by paramedics, as HIWFRS crews made the scene safe.

"A crew from Newport was stood down en route as they were no longer required to attend.

"The incident was handed over to the police before firefighters left the scene at 2.10pm."

The road is not reported to have been closed, although it is advisable to take alternate routes where possible for the time being.

A spokesperson for the Ambulance Service added:

"Our Ambulance Service attended the scene and one person has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital."
