Orchard House care facility kindly hosted the celebration with a wonderful buffet and cake for volunteers to share and socialize .
The 60 strong team of volunteers across the projects were thanked for their amazing work by Rebecca Savage, coordinator on the Island; Sinead Crosbie, new CEO and Chair of Trustees, and Tim Blair of Embracing Age's National team.
Volunteers Barbara Sargent , Val Taylor and Jean Cotton were recognised by Rebecca for their outstanding voluntary contribution to the work of the Embracing Age on The Island .
Rebecca said:
"We could not do what we do without the commitment and passion of our volunteers across the projects on the Island.
"The community spirit here is second to none and as a team of volunteers we help to make a difference bringing hope, value, love and connection to care home residents in their community.
"I would like to extend that thanks to volunteers that could not be with us at the celebration ."
Embracing Age currently supports 264 care home residents by offering befriending, a cards of kindness scheme, flower bouquets, providing handmade useful gifts such as blankets, fiddle muffs and shawls as examples during the year and at Christmas.
Embracing Age has also launched a new project Animal Care Home Connections working in partnership with The Island Riding Centre and Pets As Therapy.
