Day Disco enthusiasts will raise funds for the island’s hospice next month (October) as organisers decide to donate 100 per cent of ticket profits to charity.
Sunday Skool, which started at Fever in Newport last Easter, is returning with a new venue and a new focus – to raise money for Mountbatten Hospice.
Sunday Skool founder Kirsty Ruth said:
"We always intended to make Sunday Skool an event for the local community and what better way to do this than to donate the profits from ticket sales for our next party to such an important island service?
"We had always seen charity events in our future but our plans have been bought forward after I talked to a friend who is experiencing first-hand the support and care that the hospice offers. I realised that money is needed now, and so why wait?"
The next Sunday Skool will take place at Strings Bar & Venue in Newport between 2pm and 7pm on October 13.
Tickets are £10 each and all money made from these (after costs) will be handed over to the Hospice.
More than 2,000 Islanders are cared for in any one day by Mountbatten Hospice and the service costs around £10.5 million every year to run.
Most of this money has to be found through fundraising.
Kirsty said:
"Sunday Skool events are all about having fun and that fun can only be increased by knowing that you are also doing something to support a service that any one of us may need one day."
Sunday Skool day discos are aimed at the over 30s but anyone is welcome to party if they want to raise money for the Hospice.
The next event at Strings will feature music from the 80s to 2000s with popular local DJs Stuart Murray and Andy (Crabbie) Crabb. Tickets are on sale now at sundayskool.co.uk.
