A controversial development planned for the edge of an Isle of Wight village is back on the cards and it could be even bigger.
New developers have taken control of a currently empty greenfield site on Newport Road in Northwood and proposed more houses as well as final details to get the scheme back on track.

Outline planning permission was originally granted for 66 houses on the land in 2020 — despite more than 100 objections — but no further permissions were sought to actually build the development.
Now in the hands of London-based housebuilders Notion+, plans have been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council detailing the layout, landscaping, scale and appearance of the properties.

A second application for the site has been submitted, as phase two of the development, to build six more two or three-bed houses, bringing the total up to 72 properties.
Of the 72 homes, it is proposed 25 would be marketed at an affordable rate.
Planning agents on behalf of Notion+, BCM said in planning documents, it was deemed the site could accommodate more dwellings without causing ‘demonstrable harm’ to wider planning considerations.

Other documents say the proposed scheme would be a sensitive extension of the urban form.
