Community Chest — Waxed Torso Sees Chris Raise Funds For Ryde Charity

A man from Ryde has braved pain and sacrificed hair in pursuit of funds for his latest philanthropic endeavour.

Chris Hayton had his chest waxed at Newport's Pin Ups Hair & Beauty Salon to raise money for a charity close to his heart.

His Just Giving page received £213, all of which will go directly to Ryde based John's Club.

Chris told Isle of Wight Radio:

"I wanted to have my chest waxed to support people with mental health issues.

"John's Club runs day services from Monday to Friday and help the Island's community.

"The wax was very painful, this is the second time I've had it done and it doesn't get any easier!"

Chris's previous wax raised more than £200 for Mountbatten, adding to the £800 his efforts at Walk the Wight saw donated to the Newport charity.

Other acts of kindness include making garden signs for care home staff across the Island, while he has previously raised money for the IW Air Ambulance, Children in Need and Brading's Donkey Sanctuary.

Ever the entertainer, much of his recent spare time has seen him dressed as a post box to "make people smile and cheer people up."
