Calling All Thrill Seekers! Isle Of Wight Charity Skydive Returns

Can you brave a skydive in the name of charity? Wessex Cancer Trust is looking for Isle of Wight thrill seekers!

The charity's sponsored skydive is returning for 2022. It's looking to raise money to help local people affected by cancer.

No training is required, and all that's needed for those taking part is nerves of steel.

Darren, from Sandown, is jumping to mark his 50th birthday. He has a very personal reason for taking on the challenge:

“My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago and we used the Daisy Bus to get from the Red Jet to her hospital appointments every day for five weeks.

"It was a simple thing, but something that made our lives much easier at a very difficult time. In my community and circle of friends, more and more people are being diagnosed with cancer and we need Wessex Cancer Trust to be able to help them now and in the future.

"It’s my 50th birthday this year and the Skydive felt like a fantastic challenge to mark it, and it’s also a way for me to give something back to the charity who helped us so much."

Don’t fancy jumping yourself? Have some fun and nominate a colleague, friend or your boss to drop!

Weight limit: The maximum weight for a tandem student is 18 stone (114kg) fully clothed with weight being in proportion to height.

If you are between 15 (95kg) and 18 stone, you will need to contact Skydive Isle of Wight on 07548324910 in advance to check your suitability to jump. Due to higher operational costs, there will be a surcharge for people over 15 stone.
