Burger Drive-Thru Plans Revealed For Ryde

(c) Urban Edge/IW Council

Plans have been submitted for Burger King to open a second drive-thru location on the Isle of Wight.

The proposal would see a new fast-food premises at the current Tesco Extra car park site in Ryde.

The current Newport Burger King restaurant — which opened its doors in December 2019 — is based at Unit 6 of the Coppins Bridge Retail Park, near to Cineworld.

Official planning documents show that Burger King will open the new site with the intention of creating around 35 local jobs.

The 2,500 square foot Ryde eatery will include 45 inside covers, a drive-thru lane, dedicated click and collect parking bays and outside seating.

If planning permission is granted, the store will open daily from 7am to 11pm.

Tesco's car park would consequently lose 95 parking spaces, although 20 would remain for Burger King.

A decision is due to be made in April.
