Brave Islanders Raise More Than £7,500 For Age UK Isle Of Wight

Twelve daring fundraisers experienced an amazing adrenaline rush as they took on a tandem skydive from more than 10,000ft over Sandown Airport this Summer in aid of Age UK Isle of Wight.

The event was kindly supported by Wight Fire & Security, of which two dedicated staff members braved the jump themselves to support the cause.

The weather was perfect, a clear and sunny day giving spectacular aerial views to all involved.

The event raised more than £7,500 for Age UK Isle of Wight, all of which will stay on the Island helping to provide vital support and companionship to older residents.

Steve Winter, Director of Wight Fire & Security, said:

“It was a privilege to be able to support Age UKIW with this year’s skydive and I’m particularly proud that Emily and Sue from Wight Fire managed to raise an amazing £1609.25 of the final total between them.

"I’m sure this money enables Age UKIW to provide support to the Island’s elderly, especially in the current financial climate, which will be invaluable.”

Elisha Leachman, Head of Fundraising at Age UKIW, said:

“We are grateful to all of the incredible fundraisers who braved this adrenaline filled challenge.

"We are amazed by the amount raised this year and want to send a special thank you to everyone involved and who helped to support this day.”
