Binstead Flooding: Residents Invited To Drop-In Session

Binstead residents affected by last year's flooding are being invited to a drop-in session today (Monday).

It is happening now until 7pm.

The Isle of Wight Council, in its role as lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), is hosting the session at Binstead Community Centre.

Representatives from the Isle of Wight Council, Highways Authority, Southern Water and the Environment Agency will be present, along with ward councillor, Ian Dore.

Cllr Dore said:

“We’ve all been working on this since the flooding last year and it's going great guns. The money is secure, and some works have already been done.

"This though is where it gets interactive as there is much more to do with various options on the table. It’s vital the community play a part in this, and local residents are encouraged to come along at any time between 3pm and 7pm, to discuss some of the options being considered.

"This will help us address the flooding issues we have. I sincerely hope you can join us, helping to play a part in shaping the future of Binstead.”

A report into last year's flooding was published in October.

It found residents' mental health had been affected by the events, as Isle of Wight Radio previously reported.
