Beryl Founder Hails 'Positive Impact' Of E-Scooters On Isle Of Wight

Beryl has hailed the 'positive impact' of its e-scooters on the Isle of Wight.

The micromobility provider launched in three trial locations — including the Isle of Wight — in September 2020.

Trials have now expanded to 32 areas of the country, while the Island has become one of the first areas chosen for the company's e-bikes.

Beryl CEO and co-founder, Phil Ellis, said:

“Since its launch in November 2020, our e-scooter scheme has had a significant positive impact on the Island.

“By offering people a sustainable, convenient, cost-effective and fun transport option, we’ve been able to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions while improving air quality and public health.

“We’ll continue to work with the Isle of Wight Council and Solent Transport to further demonstrate the demand for shared e-scooter schemes."

The Department for Transport (DfT) is coordinating regulated trials that allow people in certain areas of England to rent an e-scooter.

By the end of December 2021, 32 trials remained in operation across 50 areas, delivered by a total of 12 e-scooter operators.
