Assault At Sandown Airport Car Boot Sale

A man in his fifties was assaulted at a car boot sale at Sandown Airport this morning (Saturday).

The incident happened at the entrance to the airfield at the Scotchells Brook Lane and the Newport Road junction, around 11am.

During the incident a man in his fifties who was working at the event suffered a suspected fractured hip and leg injury.

Officers wish to identify and speak to the driver of a silver Mercedes 4x4 seen leaving shortly afterwards in the direction of Newport.

In a statement released this afternoon, police said: 

“We wish to speak to anyone who may have any information about or who witnessed the incident.

“This was a busy car boot with a number of vehicles waiting to enter and leave the airfield, did you witness the incident? Perhaps you have dash cam that may have captured the incident?”
