Armed police descended onto the streets of Sandown following reports of a man with a gun yesterday afternoon (Thursday).
Specialist officers from the mainland were quickly transferred to the Island via boat, to join local armed officers at the scene on Sandown Esplanade.
Searches were conducted in several locations in the town but no weapon was recovered and no arrests were made.
