Appeal For Information Following East Cowes Vehicle Fire

Police are appealing for information following a vehicle fire in East Cowes.

An investigation was launched this week following reports on Tuesday evening (December 20) that a Mercedes Sprinter van in York Avenue had been set alight.

The vehicle was completely burnt out, and the fire also caused some additional damage to a second vehicle – a Vauxhall Astra van – parked close by.

The incident is suspected to have occurred between 6pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday evening.

Police have been making enquiries in the area, including scoping for CCTV, and urge anyone who witnessed anything or has any information for police to please get in touch.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:

"Our enquiries will also seek to establish whether this fire is connected to any other incidents in the area, and urge residents to report sightings of any suspicious people or vehicles to us.

"You can contact us by calling 101, quoting 44220511576, or you can submit information to us online here: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/"

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their anonymous online form at crimestoppers-uk.org
