Actors Needed for World War I Play at The Apollo Theatre

Isle of Wight based professional theatre company Theatre Reviva! is opening its new immersive, touring production in the Apollo — and it's in need of two additional actors.

Island resident, Theatre Director and Actor Graham Pountney is bringing his professional company, Theatre Reviva! to the Island, with RC Sherriff’s classic WW1 play JOURNEY’S END this November.

Two of the company have had to drop out – and Graham wants to re-cast the parts from Island-based actors.

Set in an extraordinarily realistic frontline dug-out during the First World War, the story plays out over four days in March 1918, as five British Officers wait for an upcoming attack.

There are two small parts of a few lines each, offered to the right candidates:  as young soldiers in the trenches in 1918 (ages 17+ yrs). One British Tommy and one captured German.  You’ll need to be strong young men looking to start a career in the Theatre, with some experience of performing on stage.  You’ll be in uniform with tin hat and full battledress of the period.  We are aiming at on-stage authenticity throughout, so short hair will be required.

It will be a short rehearsal process over 3-4 days only in late October, when the company itself comes to the Island.  The successful applicants will be available to perform in the Apollo Theatre, in Newport, nightly for 5 nights, plus two afternoon matinees during the week of November 1st to the 5th. This is a professional, paid job and you can also use being part of the company as credits of experience in the future.

Auditions will be on Thursday evening, September 29th in Wootton Bridge.

Interested? Then email Blue Sky Arts at: admin@blueskyarts.co.uk requesting the lines to read or learn, PLUS please include a short cv, or message about your acting experience, and a head-shot photo and how to call, text or email you – so the team can confirm your audition, time and place.
