Tributes are being paid to 'much-loved' Southern Vectis bus driver Gary Slater, who died on 21 October.
Gary has been a member of the bus operator’s close-knit team since 1984 when he joined as a customer advisor.
In 2008, Gary became a driver and was highly valued by all those who travelled with him.
Southern Vectis operations manager, Simon Moye said:
“Gary was much loved by colleagues and customers alike - and we always received compliments about him
“This is a very sad time for us all, and our thoughts are with Gary’s family and friends as they come to terms with his loss.”
His funeral takes place on Friday 4 December, and the procession will pass through Newport Bus Station at 11.15am, so people have a chance to pay their respects.
At the same time, Southern Vectis drivers may pull over - if it is safe to do so - for a minute’s silence to remember Gary.
Gary’s family have asked for any donations to be made to Aspire Ryde which he supported.
