Police have intercepted a 'suspect package' on the Isle of Wight believed to be containing a quantity of Class A and B drugs.
Isle of Wight Police said that on Wednesday (21), the Newport Shopwatch scheme and Newport Neighbourhood Team officers were notified by Post Office staff at Royal Exchange, about a suspicious package.
Police attended and discovered what's thought to be a quantity of drugs, being sold from the Island to the mainland.
A Newport man has been arrested, with further items discovered at a separate premises in connection with the incident.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:
"A 22-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply.
"He’s been released under investigation."
