'Serious' Shanklin Assault Prompts Arrest

A 27-year-old has been arrested as part of an investigation into a 'serious' assault in Shanklin.

Hampshire Constabulary says a man, from Carisbrooke, has been detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has been released from custody - and remains under investigation. 

Police say a man in his 40s was assaulted in Regent Street at around 6.15pm on Wednesday, November 4.

The incident is then believed to have continued on to Arthurs Hill and then Avenue Road.

The victim suffered a number of injuries and was taken to St Mary's Hospital.
