Santa Claus Is Coming To (Isle Of Wight) Towns!

Santa Claus is coming to a number of Isle of Wight towns over the next week or so.

Father Christmas will visit a different town each evening, with his first stop being Freshwater and Yarmouth on Saturday (11).

To give the reindeer a rest, his sleigh will be towed by a vehicle and will travel through the streets and stop at some locations.

Isle of Wight Round Table - a social organisation - has helped put together Santa's sleigh, which will be adorned with lights and Christmas music.

A list of dates and locations are as followed:

  • Saturday 11 - Freshwater and Yarmouth
  • Monday 13 - Wootton
  • Tuesday 14 - Ryde and Binstead
  • Wednesday 15 - Nettlestone and Seaview
  • Thursday 16 - St Helens and Bembridge
  • Friday 17 - Sandown
  • Saturday 18 - Newport
  • Sunday 19 - East Cowes

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, Trevor Cook, Vice-Chair of the Round Table, said:

"There'll be a rather jolly Father Christmas, a very, very extravagant sleigh, some bucket shaking and we'll be handing out bags of sweets!

"We're raising money for Beaulieu House, the Island's children's home for those with disabilities and some of the funds will also go into our round table charitable fund. Historically, we've supported the Kissy Puppy appeal, Ability Dogs 4 Young People and other good causes such as the Toy Appeal or the Island foodbank."

The Isle of Wight Round Table is a social organisation, part of the international organisation Round Table, who meet every couple of weeks for social activities such as go karting, paint balling and sports.

Details of exact routes and times for Santa's visits can be found here.
