Rookley Football Pitch 'Ruined' In Latest Act Of Vandalism

Vandals have once again struck at Rookley's Football Development Centre.

A post on the centre's Facebook page said the gate has been 'lifted off the hinges' and the pitch 'driven on'.

The post said:

"Tonight (Thursday) we had our u14s training session but when we arrived we found the pitch in this state.

"What is up with some people I really can’t understand what they get out of doing things like this.

"Everyone at the club and Rookley village hall work so hard for this facility to be available for community use but some people feel the need to lift the gate of the hinges and drive in and do this.

"With the season starting soon we will now have to try and get the pitches back in a fit state for the children to play on."

It's not the first time the centre has been targeted.

At the end of May, marking equipment had been destroyed, and the remains scattered around the playing field, as Isle of Wight Radio reported.
